The North Devon Festival plays an
important part in the promotion and appreciation of the arts
and culture in the area.
At Broomhill we are proud to present our 2003 contributions to
this eclectic festival.
Fri 06 June 16:00 INTERNATIONAL ART EXHIBITION Featuring the work of artist, Elena Merino and sculptor, Zoran Luka. Both artists have permanent exhibitions at the Kirsten Kjaers Museum in Denmark.
As part of the launch of the North Devon
Festival there will be an opening view of
this exhibition in the company of both
artists at 16:00. With guest speaker on behalf of the North Devon Festival 2003.

Broomhill is proud to present a very
special jazz evening featuring:
Julia Biel (vocals); Jonny Phillips (guitar)
Idris Rahman (tenor sax/clarinet); Tom
Herbert (double bass) and Sebastian
Rochford (drums).
Together since 1996, they have developed
a soulful, intimate and committed style
which has world music, folk and jazz
influences. Beautiful, moving music – a
night to remember!

Wed 11 Jun 19:30 AN EVENING OF POETRY, MUSIC & COMEDY
The evening kicks off with a performance
by internationally renown poet, Kit
Wright. (‘Hoping It May Be So’, ‘Rabbiting On’.
Next is the incredibly
popular childrens writer and illustrator
Jez Alborough. Jez has written over 30
Children’s picture books including
‘Where’s My Teddy?, ‘Cuddly Dudley’ and
‘Going on a Bear Hunt’. Some of Jez’s
original paintings will be on sale during
the night!
The evening finishes with a performance by Matt Harvey and Indigo Moon. The rich textured sounds of Indigo Moon
complement Matt’s lateral wit and
wordplay to make for a warm, funny
evening. Books on sale on night.

Thu 12 Jun SCHOOLS’ LITERARY DAY Once Again, Broomhill is hosting a
top children’s
writers, poets and illustrators. At least
ten local primary schools are taking part
and over 400 children will spend the day
at Broomhill listening and working with
Kit Wright, Jez Alborough, Shoo Rayner,
Michelle Cartlidge and Sally Crabtree.
