Tenfold • Hans Grootswagers
In his work, Hans Grootswagers translates the less obvious into the identifiable. Abstractions from the world of emotions are his primary source of inspiration. Reality and fiction are interwoven, to subsequently merge in ways not always readily perceivable.
Mass and volume are allocated new dimensions that consistently present a tension, expressing themselves thus into pieces of imposing sculpture.
This preference for suggested ‘spatiality and volumes’ is expressed not only in his sculptures but also in wearable mini sculptures made of 18 carat gold and sterling silver.
A solid technical training at the vocational school for Gold and Silversmiths intertwined with his arts training in Tilburg and Breda, are the basis that formed the extraordinary skills of Hans Grootswagers.
