Jazz & Dinner at Broomhill

Coming Up

Led Bib

22 Feb 2017

Led Bib

Led Bib are back in 2017 with a new album, this time to be released on the acclaimed genre-busting label Rare Noise Records. After 13 years together and 8 records released, the stronger than ever five piece went into a Viennese studio a few weeks ago to lay down the new material. While not a huge departure for the group, the record marks a turning point in the band's sound. The moments of crashing grooves and screeching saxes are still there, but now they are more focused and accompanied by compositions stark in beauty or doom laden landscapes.

One of the originators in the rebirth of interest in young British Jazz: now is the time to book this established band as they unveil their new material.

John Turville: Solstice

08 Jun 2017

Solstice

Solstice is an ensemble comprising some of the foremost band leaders and composers emerging from the thriving East London music scene. Having toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe with their own projects and artists as diverse as Kenny Wheeler, Tim Garland, Andy Sheppard, Dave Binney, Django Bates, Jasper Hoiby and Ivo Neame, this new group was conceived as an opportunity to explore the compositional possibilities inherent in a larger ensemble.

The group have a unified sound drawing on influences from Brazil, New York, and France whilst retaining a uniquely British identity. Their debut album 'Alimentation', launched at the end of 2016 on Two Rivers Records is accompanied by a twenty date UK and European tour in 2017.

"Solstice's set was steely, smooth and haunting; the more intense moments balanced by cool, shimmering plateaux of peace. Some of the compositions have a very urban, almost industrial sensibility to them; in my mind, its busy, chaotic, angular yet atonal lines seem to weave among streets of traffic and towering skyscrapers" - (Rory Duffy)
