What our guests say about Broomhill

Guest Comments

Perfect retreat in the Devon countryside

“We’ve just spent a long weekend at the excellent Broomhill Arts hotel. The owners and staff are so friendly and can’t do enough for you but are never intrusive. The food was truly amazing (We were on a special weekend deal) and the price of drinks is really reasonable. The setting is stunning and you must spend time wandering around the sculpture gardens - Even worth visiting if you are not staying at the hotel. Make sure that you seek out the Mike Roles installation as it is brilliant. Can’t think of one negative comment, had a great weekend.” — Andy Flatman, Ipswich, Trip Advisor, 27 Feb 2012

Interesting Sculpture Garden with excellent Restaurant

“Our visit was primarily to have Sunday lunch, but we arrived early and looked around the gardens. The sculpture garden is very extensive and with 300 pieces spread over quite a large woodland area, a good hour or more can be spent looking around. The setting is delightful with a stream running through the woodland, and various small lakes with interesting sculptures thoughtfully placed.

“Lunch was served in a very stylish dining room, and was imaginative, well presented and delicious. We had 3 courses for £14.95, accompanied by a reasonably priced bottle of wine. The service was friendly and efficient. Overall, a very pleasant experience, and we will definitely return.” — Tony Hopes, Trip Advisor, 18 Jan 2012

Broomhill Art Hotel - fine old Victorian house and art collection - a real gem

“We attended a family wedding at this intimate family-run hotel located in extensive gardens and woodland in a North Devon valley just outside Barnstaple and it was a truly memorable occasion. The number of rooms is limited as it is only a small hotel, so we found accommodation at Instow near Barnstaple and came here just for the wedding. The gardens contain a fine collection of modern sculptures, the house is an impressive Victorian building, and the wedding hall next to the main house is decorated in light colours with a kind of Scandinavian feel.

“The lovingly tended gently sloping gardens provide an ideal setting for photography after the ceremony, enabling the guests to socialise and the younger family members of the family to run around to their hearts’ content. The reception was held in the spacious events room on the ground floor with large round tables set for dinner, and we were then invited to make our own selection from the fine array of dishes that were all beautifully prepared and of the same outstanding quality, as was the wedding cake.

“After the speeches the scene was set for dancing, that was very enjoyable. You could really see all the care and attention to detail that had gone into making this a very enjoyable occasion for all concerned, not least the bride and groom, who were glowing with happiness on this very special day for all who attended.” — William Jo, Italy, Trip Advisor, 25 Feb 2012

Quite simply: perfect

“Whilst looking for a wedding venue we stumbled across the magic that is Broomhill.

“From the planning stage to the actual event everything was dealt with not only professionalism but with love and care for us as individuals not just as another customer.

“The owners, the wonderful Aniet and Rinus have made Broomhill the must unique/magical venue not only in Devon but in the UK.

“Our party was an amazing success and that is due to everyone involved with Broomhill, the decor, the service, the attention to detail and not forgetting the food - which is quite simply stunning.

“If you are looking for somewhere that offers a unique venue in a magical location, fantastic food and a night to remember then look no further than Broomhill.” — Pam and Jo, Trip Advisor, 7 Feb 2012
