Formal training at the Academy for the Plastic Arts in Breda, the Vocational School for Gold and Silversmiths in Schoonhoven, and the Art Academy in Tilburg.
In his work, Hans Grootswagers translates the non mundane into the identifiable. Reality and fiction are interwoven to subsequently merge in ways not always readily perceivable. Mass and volume are allocated new dimensions that consistently present a challenge making for extraordinary sculptures with as source of inspiration abstractions from the world of emotions. This preference for suggested “spatiality and volumes” is expressed not only in his sculptures but also in his portable gold and silver objects. A solid technical training at the Vocational School for Gold and Silversmiths, intertwined with his arts training in Tilburg and Breda, are the basis that has formed Hans Grootswagers.

In zijn werk vertaalt Hans Grootswagers het niet alledaagse naar een herkenbare vorm. Realiteit en fictie zijn met elkaar verweven en lopen, niet altijd onmiddellijk waarneembaar, door elkaar heen. Massa en volume krijgen nieuwe dimensies toegekend. Zij vormen steeds weer de uitdaging tot het maken van bijzondere sculpturen, met abstracties uit de gevoelswereld als inspiratie bron. Niet alleen in beelden, maar ook in zijn draagbare gouden en zilveren objecten komt deze voorkeur voor gesuggereerde “ruimtelijkheid en volumes” tot uitdrukking.Een gedegen technische opleiding aan de Vakschool voor Goud en Zilversmeden, vervlochten met kunstonderwijs in Tilburg en Breda hebben Hans Grootswagers aan de basis gevormd.

Dans ses oeuvres Hans Grootswagers exprime les choses peu ordinaires par des formes reconnaissables. La réalité et la fiction sont mélangées et se croisent de manière parfois difficilement perceptible. Les masses et les volumes se voient attribuer de nouvelles dimensions. Ils constituent à chaque fois un défi pour des sculptures exceptionnelles dont la source d'inspiration réside dans des notions abstraites issues de la vie émotionnelle. Cette préférence vouée aux notions suggestives liées à “l'espace et aux volumes” ne s'exprime pas seulement dans ses sculptures mais également dans les objets en or et en argent faits pour être portés. C'est grâce à une solide formation technique à l'Ecole Professionnelle des Joailliers Orfèvres et à celle dispensée par les académies des Beaux Arts de Tilburg et Breda que Hans Grootswagers a pu acquérir les bases de son art.

In seinem Werk gibt Hans Grootswagers das Ungewöhnliche in einer sichtbaren Form wieder. Realität und Fiktion sind mit einander verflochten und überschneiden sich, obwohl nicht immer sofort erkennbar. Der Masse und dem Volumen werden neue Dimensionen beigemessen. Sie sind immer wieder der Ansporn, besondere Skulpturen zu gestalten, wobei Abstraktionen aus der Gefühlswelt die Inspirationsquelle sind. Nicht nur in Plastiken, sondern auch in seinen tragbaren goldenen und silbernen Objekten kommt diese Vorliebe für suggerierte “räumliche Wirkung und Volumen” zum Ausdruck. Eine gründliche technische Ausbildung an der Fachschule für Gold- und Silberschmiede, verknüpft mit Kunstunterricht in Tilburg und Breda haben Hans Grootswagers von Grund auf geprägt.
